How To Get An Army Of Affiliates

Army_480.jpg
Yes, you read that headline right. In fact, you might even want to read it again.
You can totally get affiliates to PAY YOU for the right to send you buyers.
I ran across this a couple of years ago, and I have to say I was impressed. In fact, I just about joined this myself, and I'm a seasoned pro. This was done by a group of seasoned marketers, but there's no reason why a new marketer or marketers couldn't do it, too.
Last time I checked, this funnel I'm about to describe is still up and running and going strong. I don't want anyone to actually steal their exact system, sales copy and funnel, so I'm going to just give you the highlights and you can fill in the rest:
First you start with a sales funnel. You've got a squeeze page offering a terrific little "how to do marketing" type of lead magnet. Once visitors grab the lead magnet, or even if they try to click away without picking up the lead magnet, they are then directed to a sales page for an online marketing membership site.
The membership site has several levels, with the lowest level being free to join. Of course they highlight the free level in the headline to keep people on the page, and then they extoll the virtues of the other levels. Each level has more and better content, better support and so forth.
The free level is fairly basic, but does give enough info for a newbie to make a start in making money online.
And of course each level is more expensive than the previous level, with the prices skewed a bit to encourage visitors to choose the highest level.
I'll give you an example of that pricing to give you an idea of what I'm talking about:
Level 1: Free
Level 2: $29 per month
Level 3: $44 per month
Level 4: $49 per month
These aren't the exact price points they used, but you get the idea. You see there is very little difference between level 3 and 4 in terms of price, but in terms of content there is a big difference.
This is a great psychological ploy, because it gets the prospect to study the differences between levels 3 and 4 while forgetting all about level 2.
And of course if they're going to get a paid membership, they're most likely to choose level 4.
The content is drip fed each week...
... and if you've been paying close attention, you've realized I haven't really shown you anything new yet.
Here it comes, so hang onto your seat, because THIS is how you get affiliates to PAY you to send you a list of BUYERS:
(I love this bit!)
All of the levels offer a built-in affiliate program that sets the affiliates up to sell their own memberships for all of the levels they qualify for.
This means if they are a level 2 member, they can give away level 1 and sell level 2. If they happen to sell level 3 or 4, they still get paid, but not as much.
But if they are a level 4 member, they get to sell all four levels and KEEP ALL the money.
That's right - they get to keep 100% of what they sell if they are level 4.
I hope this is making sense. It sounds complicated at first, but it's actually fairly simple once you understand the concept.
Thus you've got affiliates paying (in our example above) $49 a month for the privilege of selling memberships and keeping all the money.
That's a great deal for the affiliates, right? Absolutely. You can see why I almost jumped on it.
The affiliates don't have to worry about hosting, fulfillment or any of that stuff, because the membership takes care of all of that.
The affiliate gets a unique salespage URL, squeeze page URL and membership area.
The content is automatically drip fed into that member's area. The subscriptions are managed for them, the levels are managed for them... all they have to do is make sales by promoting their squeeze page URL.
The affiliate gets to build a list of prospects and buyers simply by promoting the URL, and of course they are earning residual monthly income, too.
The list of prospects and customers stays in the system and cannot be exported. Affiliates can only email their lists from inside the system. So if they drop out and stop paying their monthly fee, they lose their lists.
This can make for some very sticky affiliates who never leave.
Now for the icing... in the terms and conditions, it is made explicitly clear that the membership site operator(s) have access to all of the prospects and customers who sign up.
This means they can email prospects and customers any time they like, making any offer they like. PLUS the site owners can also place offers in the membership area as well.
Now think about what I just said... affiliates are paying you $49 a month (or whatever price point you choose) to be able to build you a list of prospects and customers.
And the affiliates are getting a terrific deal, too, getting 100% monthly commissions and the ability to email their customers and prospects from within your website.
It's a true win / win for everyone involved, and done correctly it can yield a tremendous amount of prospects and buyers for you, as well as excellent monthly income to pay for a very nice membership site and have money left over.
When I heard about this, they were making five figures a month from the membership site fees alone. This doesn't include what they were earning from mailing to their ever-growing email lists, or from the special promotions they continually placed in the members' area.
Imagine if you were earning 5 figures from your membership site AND having a team of affiliates working hard to build your list of prospects and buyers. Sweet.
I wish I had started my first site this way - I'd probably be retired today.

How To Start An Online Affiliate Program

Start_480.jpg
An online affiliate program provides smart business owners with an additional stream of income for selling the same product they sell directly. They get other people to promote and market their product and they only pay those people if a sale is made.
The return on investment might be lower than if you sell the product directly yourself, but the advantages can be enormous.
Digital Products
The best affiliate products to sell are digital products. These include eBooks, videos, mp3 courses, membership websites. They are great for you as a product creator as you only have to produce it once and it can sold time and time again. They are great for your affiliates because you can very easily give them a copy to review for their customers. And they are great for customers because they can instantly download them once they've purchased it, so there's no hanging around for delivery.
A Product That People Will Want To Buy
Needless to say, if you want to attract affiliates to sell for you, you'll need an excellent product.
The simplest way to create a digital product is to write an eBook. If you have a lot of knowledge on a particular subject, you can write an eBook that can really help people in that niche or market.
An online course can generate even more money per sale. Your course can be delivered through a membership site, or through an instant digital download of video and/or audio file.
A Reasonable Commission
Affiliates are like sales people who get paid only when they make a sale. So they'll need make a reasonable commission to make it worth their time. If you don't offer at least 50% commission you're not likely to appeal to high-level affiliate marketers.
The Right Software
When you start an affiliate program you need to pick the right software to help you and your affiliates.
  • ClickBank.com is a very popular network used my many people to find affiliate programs. It facilitates both affiliates and product creators to operate their programs in a professional manner.
  • JVZoo.com is free software that you can use in the cloud to promote your products and run an affiliate program. Furthermore you'll be part of their marketplace which will enable super-affiliates to find you.
  • aMember.com is a plugin that works with WordPress and you can set up a membership website with this software. It's a one-time purchase with yearly upgrades and excellent customer care.
An e-book is the simplest and quickest way to create a product for a affiliates to sell on your behalf. You may think that's pretty straightforward. On the other hand, you might think researching, writing, formatting, publishing and marketing your e-book is incredibly difficult. The reality of the situation is somewhere in the middle of those two schools of thought.

Ways to Write - How to Be a Ghost Writer

GhostWriter_480.jpg
What is the point of writing or ghost writing, or even being a ghost writer or author of a novel, book, memoir or screenplay, if nobody else reads it or them? One reader does an experience make whether it is a ghost writer book, ghost writing screenplay or author memoirs. The point has always been the reader, your readers. You think when you ghost write a book between the many of you, what am I going to be an author or screenwriter about, how am I going to have a ghost writer talk, and how am I making ample money for my business, for my family, for myself - how about simply caring about your readers for a change?
What do they want, what sells you to them, how would you go about being a ghost writer or book author client for your readers? Whether you are a ghost writer or book author, it tends to be the case that your readers get awfully lost in the shuffle. The mental picture is somebody so important; they have their pick of all media on the face of the planet - why would they want to view yours? You do have to pick out your audience instead, aiming for something a bit shorter than best sellers, a bit longer than eBooks that make ten cents for you if you don't aim it, hugging and arming instead a smaller group. Who would be interested in reading your idea book the most and whom are you as a ghost writer or book author writing it for?
It's not a matter of what you want to say, it's not a matter of satisfying your own selfish desires. It's not a matter of how well your book is going to sell; it's a matter of the nature of your audience. What are their needs? If you haven't got an idea yet, what do you think is a Big Idea out there, what would appeal to a vast audience? If you do have an idea and you need to fulfill it, who needs that idea, who needs to be a ghost writer for it, who needs it? It's not a matter of who you already happen to be - it's largely a matter of where you can take a realistic appraisal. This is what I want ghost writers to consider.
Not the thing everybody else is doing, not the best rewrite, not the kitchen sink of each book or screenplay author's prose that can be found somewhere else. Something else that is news to your readers, your audience. Not the past, not the present, not the future. Not sexual matters, not war, not how to make peace in our time by selling million dollar babies. Understand this example - books on self-help have sold like hotcakes because they have a ready-made audience, namely people who need help. Who needs help, who beseeches a way to find that help, who hires a ghost writer who needs to help an author achieve an audience - who actually needs you?
You should be able, as either a ghost writer or book author, to think about somebody else for a change. Go find your people, and write, draw, plan, dream and implement fantasia for a pared down, niche, select series of groups of them. When you are a ghost writer, find somebody and write only for them - see it now. Give it your all, or give it something, but don't just write for yourself - unless you really must pass it around to your family, friends and colleagues. Which can be the fairest audiences of some smaller types, of a different drummer, as long as you do realize that you are writing? Who are you a ghost writing team of - you, or all of those others?
GHOST WRITER, INC. - ghostwriter, copy editor, proofreader, rewriter and book author - and our team of 100+ writing field related workers, many of which are New York Times best selling authors. We have contacts with literary agents, commercial publishers and literary/film field professionals.

Ten Tips For Business Startup Owners

Ten_480.jpg
Every entrepreneur can use some advice when it comes to making sure their business startup gets off on the right foot. From the best way to run your business to following your dreams, these tips offer sound recommendations that can help your business startup maintain its operations and find success at every turn.
Sure, your business may run into challenges, and you may make some mistakes along the way, but it is how you recover that matters. Use these tips to your advantage when it comes to ensuring you avoid the pitfalls that others have fallen into as a first-time entrepreneur.
1. Be Passionate About What You Do
When it comes to business, doing what you love makes it that much easier to do well. Find a business that you can excel at and throw yourself into. You should have an underlying passion for the market, product, service, or brand that you are selling. In order for it to succeed in the market place, you need to believe in it, and then your customers will follow suit.
2. Believe In Yourself
Every entrepreneur doubts themselves at one time or another, but you need to fully believe in your capabilities and strength. Mistakes are inevitable, but understanding that you will fail at times can help you rebound and move forward with great resilience. Recognize that you have what it takes to make it and send that doubt packing as only when you truly believe in yourself and what you are doing will success come knocking at your door.
3. Listen To Advice From Others
Many others may have come before you with their own business startups. Learn from their challenges and heed their advice. They can allow you to steer clear of potential issues and make it easier for you to operate as a business startup. From finding funding to working with an angel investor, other entrepreneurs have experience that you can gain from and use to your advantage if you are willing to listen.
4. Watch Your Overhead
You need to realize that you are business startup out of the gate. This means watching your cash flow and setting up shop in that swank office building on 5th Avenue may not be a possibility at this time. Keep things simple and observe your cost structures. You may need cash down the road and being on the hook for high rents or loan commitments can make it difficult to spread your wings. You'll get there. Have patience and watch for the right opportunity to grow. Remember that patience is a virtue.
5. Know Your Competition
Ignoring your competition as a business startup will get you nowhere. Be sure to thoroughly investigate everything there is to know about your competition and make your products and services better. Find out where your competitors are lacking and seize this opportunity to secure market share. Knowing your competition can give you that leg up your need to get ahead in the market and appeal to consumers in a new way. Do your homework and keep an eye on your competitors at all times.
6. Practice Your Pitch
You are the greatest salesperson for your business startup. Whether you are looking to secure funding from an angel investor or looking to gain more customer loyalty, you need to have a pitch on the ready to tell anyone and everyone you come in contact with. Be concise in your approach and be sure to mention your goals, values, and vision. You never know who you'll meet, and you need to be ready with a pitch that impresses.
7. Get Out And Network
Networking is a key part of any entrepreneur's success. Connecting with others in the industry can help you develop relationships that may come in handy for your business startup down the road. Plus, you will continue to learn from these individuals and a new opportunity with one of them may be just around the corner.
8. Ask For Help
As much as you want to do it all, there comes a time when we all need to ask for help. There is no shame in getting someone involved in your business startup to help take it to the next level. You are going to need help as time goes on to evolve your company and reaching out to someone you trust may be the best thing that you can do for your business startup. You'll be able to offload some of the burdens and free yourself up to focus on new projects that have been sitting on the back burner.
9. Continue Learning
With the most successful CEOs reading four to five books a month, taking a page from their playbook can help extend your business startup and move it forward in new ways. Keep the door open and continue to educate yourself by learning from others. Reading books that focus on self-help, business, motivation, leadership, and communication can continue to motivate you and your company. If you keep your learning continuous, you'll find plenty of new ideas just waiting to be realized.
10. Don't Give Up
Above all don't give up on yourself. Even when times get tough, and you feel like throwing in the towel. Take a step back and appreciate how far you have come. If you have the drive and motivation to succeed the potential to make it in the market is there. You need to believe that you can do it and push yourself harder than you have ever done before. With hard work comes success and you are most likely just on the cusp of winning.

Small Business Start Up Checklist - 5 Crucial Steps When Starting a Business

Checklist_480.jpg
Every new business needs a small business startup checklist. This list will not only keep your business running smoothly, it will also help you have more organization in your company.
As an entrepreneur, you might want to do things your way, but it can't hurt to learn a thing or two from the people who have already gone through the path you're just about to embark on.
Below is the small business startup checklist compiled from different businesses.
1) Create a Business Plan.
A business plan is the heart and soul of every business. Before starting your business, you first have to know what you want to happen and how you can make that happen. Nothing spells disaster more than a business without a concrete plan.
2) Register Your Business Name.
One of the first things to tick off in your small business startup checklist would be the name of your business. You might not think that this is a big deal, but it is one of the first steps you have to take before you can start operations.
Once you have chosen a name, register it with the appropriate organization. Make sure to think of two or three more names just in case the name you want has already been chosen.
3) Meet Legal Requirements.
Starting a business as an adult is not the same as starting your own lemonade stand when you were in grade school. Included in the small business startup checklist is meeting legal requirements.
Now that you want to legally operate your business, you're going to have to fill out a few documents and make whatever arrangements are necessary. This also includes obtaining the appropriate licenses and permits.
4) Choose a Bank for your Business.
When starting your own business, you naturally have to choose a bank to help you with your operations. You might need the bank when asking for a business loan or when you need to open a business account.
If you have your own accountants, it is also advisable that you consult with them regarding the bank they are most comfortable and familiar with.
5) Create Risk Management.
You have to be ready for emergencies. In case plan A doesn't work, be sure to have plans B, C and even D lined up. What are you going to do when your business doesn't skyrocket as you predicted? How are you going to deal with a security breach?
Risk management depends a lot on the type of business you want to have. However, be sure to consider insurance, backup systems and security systems, just to name a few.
A small business startup checklist is mainly composed of all these things. However, it is also important for you to be meticulous. Nothing is too small to take notice of when it comes to running your own business. Your business may still be small now; but given the right management, it will soon grow to be large and prosperous.

Eleven words that will eliminate procrastination

DoItRight_485.jpg
Do you ever sit staring at your computer screen with glazed eyes? Not knowing where to start or what to do next? Overwhelmed by how much you need to do and surrounded by distractions? You think about starting to do something… then you spot an unopened envelope, a new email, anything to avoid the task at hand. Once you open that email you are lead into a world of further distractions. Then you need a coffee, and a visit to the toilet, a chat on your mobile. Half the day has gone and nothing is done. Strangely, the more you need to do the more you procrastinate and the less you get done!
So, maybe like me you have a ‘To Do’ list. Even though you prioritise and set off on your first task… you immediately get distracted. Someone interrupts or you see an easier task than the one you are trying to work on. Another unproductive, muddle of a day!
Here’s what my coach taught me (yes I have a coach). The answer to eliminating procrastination is as follows:
The Rule Of 632
This simple rule really works. It is six words, followed by three words, followed by two words. And those words are:
Do One Thing At A Time
Do It Right
Finish It
Now that makes common sense. But as we know, common sense is not common practice. Try this… Print the words out on a sheet of A4 and stick it somewhere you can see it clearly from your desk. It really keeps you focused.
My Own Case Study
Yesterday I was preparing my VAT return. A horrible, fiddly job that usually takes me at least seven or eight hours of serious concentration. It has to be correct and it has to be submitted on time. During the day, on at least 20 occasions, my will power failed and I caught myself looking around for something easier to do. Each time I looked up at The Rule Of 632, it reminded me to continue with my VAT return.
Finally the job was done. I sat back and relaxed and looked at the poster one more time. Then I realised the job wasn’t actually finished. The final part of the rule is ‘Finish It’. I attached the spreadsheet to an email and sent it to my Accountant. Job done in five hours instead of eight.
Try it, it works.

5 Social Media Trends to Watch for in 2018

2018_480.jpg
If you're a nonprofit or social enterprise leader, it's not too early to begin to anticipate what's in store for 2018. The organizations that grow consistently are those that are looking through the windshield and not the rearview mirror.
By this point, you are aware that technology and social media are developing and changing at a rate that is exceedingly fast. I also think that by now you understand that it's essential for sustainability to maintain a relentless focus on what is developing in the digital age because it does indeed impact how we work.
So, what are some of the trends you should keep an eye out for in 2018 that can help you stay ahead of the competition for all-important brand awareness and fundraising dollars?
  1. Growth Hacking: Every business leader, including nonprofit executives, understand that it's essential to the lifeblood of an organization to convert and drive revenue. It increasingly means that it is essential for you to be where your donors and prospective supporters are congregating. Meaning, you have to be across the online and offline worlds, and you have to ensure everything is coordinated. You have to create content that keeps supporters and others looking back where you need them to pay attention, such as your website. It also means that you have to ensure that you have SEO experts on hand to make sure that the people who are looking at your cause or organization are going to your website. In other words, if you're not investing in SEO expertise, you're behind the eight-ball.
  2. Social Listening: Social listening extends beyond just tracking your mentions and comments in the digital world. Social listening means that you understand the context of engagements with your followers and the public and that you are also digging deeper than providing automated or canned responses to them. It's important to have someone on your team--live people--who understands the "whole" of the organization, and when someone reaches out to you, you treat them as you would in the non-digital world. The easiest way to view social listening is to treat everyone as if they were standing right in front of you in your office. It doesn't matter where or how they engage with you and your organization
  3. Artificial Intelligence: Keeping my previous point in mind about having humans involved in marketing who can understand the context that can be happening with your supporters between the digital and real worlds, artificial intelligence (AI) is going to drive more of your marketing efforts. Although we are at the dawn of the AI age, we already have AI that is infinitely more powerful and can do more than whole teams of marketers. AI will be helping as you segment or customize your content delivery. In other words, one group of your supporters will be viewing Content A while another group will be viewing Content B, depending on criteria that you set out. AI will power all of this, and you will have to know its presence so you can take advantage of it and use it effectively.
  4. Video Content: You are aware that video content is essential to today's marketing content strategy. As AI improves across digital platforms, preference will be given to content that includes video. One of the easiest things you can do to begin to drive up your engagement is creating live streams and incorporating video into your content. You can track and compare your engagement, for instance, on your Facebook page on posts that contain video versus only photo and text copy. More than likely, you'll see the same data that we see in our social marketing--video content gets more engagement and traction.
  5. Micro-Influencers: Influencer marketing is important to spread brand awareness and also help drive revenue. If you get an influencer to support your cause or organization, that's golden. But there's also an area you shouldn't miss, and that's micro-influencers. Each micro-influencer has an audience of between 1,000 and 100,000 followers. As noted in this Hubspot article, this is the value of partnering with micro-influencers on a platform such as Instagram:
  • Instagram users with fewer than 1,000 followers generated likes 8% of the time
  • Users with 1,000-10,000 followers earned likes at a 4% rate
  • Users with 10,000-100,000 followers achieved a 2.4% like rate
  • Users with 1-10 million followers earned likes only 1.7% of the time.
As you begin to consider your planning for 2018, stay ahead of the curve so you can ensure that you're marketing in the most efficient way possible. I know some of these elements take money (as well as time). Many nonprofit organizations are in need of financial resources, and that's why if I were still the CEO of a nonprofit, I would consider asking for a major gift or institutional capacity building grant. Marketing is essential for brand awareness and success, and activities like SEO expertise take money. If you don't have a good budget allocated to marketing, consider asking for a restricted gift to get you where your group needs to be in the digital age.
